Port Recovery, Hazardous Cargo Among Topics for Maritime Security Meeting

The National Maritime Security Advisory Committee will hold an open meeting Oct. 18 and 19 in Leesburg, Va., to discuss various issues relating to national maritime security. This meeting will also be broadcast online (click here to register) and via teleconference.

At these meetings the NMSAC will review, discuss, and formulate recommendations on the following issues.

- the extremely hazardous cargo strategy the committee is developing with the Chemical Transportation Advisory Committee

- current Transportation Worker Identification Credential efforts

- a long-term list of maritime concerns for potential future taskings

- efforts to update the Coast Guard/U.S. Customs and Border Protection joint port recovery protocols
