Leading international trade and customs law firm Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A., announced today the addition of two experienced professionals to its Washington, D.C., office to enhance the firm’s ability to address client issues in today’s evolving customs and trade environment. Pat Spaulding serves as director, international trade and government relations, while Amadi Anene has taken an of counsel role.
“U.S. trade and customs policy is in the throes of a generational shift, and businesses are still trying to adjust to this new reality even as they try to anticipate and influence what further changes might lie ahead,” said Nicole Bivens Collinson, president of ST&R’s international trade and government relations practice. “But ST&R has continued to expand and evolve to lead clients through similar challenges for more than 45 years, and adding top-notch professionals like Pat and Amadi will help us continue that success.”
Patrick Spaulding comes to ST&R from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, where he served most recently as deputy director, trade and field operations. In that role he collaborated with members of Congress and their staffs regarding CBP operations, initiatives, and needs and worked closely with industry leaders to address issues related to international trade practices, policies, and regulations. Within CBP he advised agency executives on legislative strategies to accomplish agency goals; fostered effective working relationships with senior officials in other agencies; and led the development and implementation of policies, strategic communications plans, and guidance recommendations. Mr. Spaulding can be reached at pspaulding@strtrade.com or (202) 730-4957.
Prior to joining ST&R, Mr. Anene founded his own company focused on counseling clients on trade regulatory and international law issues. That endeavor followed a near six-year stint practicing international trade law with a large firm. Earlier in his career he served as an Obama Administration political appointee and as the senior advisor to the head of the U.S. Small Business Administration, where his work included assisting small businesses with exporting. He also worked as an associate for a major management consulting firm focusing on advanced analytics and financial services. Mr. Anene can be reached at aanene@strtrade.com or (202) 730-4981.
