Background

Imports of textiles and apparel were up 1.6 percent in November following a 7.3 percent increase in October, according to statistics from the Department of Commerce’s Office of Textiles and Apparel. The data indicate that shipments from traditional suppliers slipped somewhat while imports from some historically underutilized sources saw sharp increases.
