Importer Representation on Watermelon Board Increased

The Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service has issued a final rule that, effective March 2, will expand from eight to twelve the number of importers on the National Watermelon Promotion Board. The board administers the Watermelon Research and Promotion Plan, which aims to establish, maintain, and expand markets for watermelons and is financed in part by assessments on importers of 150,000 pounds of watermelons or more per year.
