European Union (EU) trade arrangements provide substantial benefits to the apparel industry, including duty-free access and rules of origin that in many cases are more flexible than those included in U.S. Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). It is critical for apparel companies with global sourcing strategies, as well as first-time or occasional exporters to the EU, to understand the provisions included in these FTAs and preference programs in order to successfully maximize their overall duty savings and increase their profit margins.
