Background

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has revoked dozens of customs broker national permits for failure to timely pay the required annual fee. Click here to access the full list.

Under 19 CFR 111.96 payment of an annual user fee is required for a national permit granted to an individual, partnership, association, or corporate broker. The fee is payable with the filing of an application for a national permit and for each subsequent calendar year. If a broker fails to pay the fee by the due date, which is published annually in the Federal Register, the permit is revoked by operation of law.
