IPEF

New Zealand has provided the following information on outcomes of the most recent negotiating round on the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework.

- Good progress was made on trade facilitation, with many paragraphs and some articles closed.

- Substantial progress was made on some digital trade issues and productive discussions were held in other areas, including in relation to new text proposals.

- Agriculture negotiations achieved significant progress and a number of important technical articles are close to closure, but much work remains.

- There were some areas of convergence on environmental issues, including with respect to the circular economy, as well as areas of significant divergence, such as fossil fuel subsidies.

- Progress was made on core provisions relating to internationally-recognized labor rights, including the adoption and enforcement of those rights, and negotiators discussed processes for dealing with complaints about labor standards.

Tanzania

The U.S.-Tanzania Commercial Dialogue launched Oct. 19, an effort to boost two-way trade and investment, will focus on the digital economy, market access, regulatory and business climate reform, and trade missions and trade fairs.
