Background

The U.S.-Poland Economic and Commercial Dialogue was relaunched this week and held its first meeting since 2016. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Global Markets Arun Venkataraman said the ECD represents “a key channel to identify and advance shared priorities, address concerns, and, most importantly, deepen the U.S.-Poland commercial relationship.”

A DOC press release said this week’s meeting focused on three goals: supporting the energy transition, partnering on infrastructure projects and research and development, and fostering digital policies that support trade and inclusion. On energy, the U.S. said it aims to help position Poland as a regional leader in civil nuclear energy and is exploring further opportunities for energy diversification in Poland, including renewable energy, liquified natural gas, and energy efficiency technology. On infrastructure, the DOC intends to promote several Polish infrastructure projects to competitive U.S. companies. To ensure the safety and security of the digital economy, both governments anticipate a future workshop exploring the U.S. approach toward cybersecurity and strengthening collaboration between U.S. cyber firms and interested Polish partners.
