Tariffs. H.R. 2287 (introduced May 13 by Rep. Bynum, D-Ore.) would require the Federal Reserve to conduct a study on the impact of certain U.S. tariffs on the cost of goods and services in the U.S.

S. 1741 (introduced May 13 by Sen. Schumer, D-N.Y.) would ensure transparency with respect to the impact of certain tariffs on the prices of goods.

Forced Labor. H.R. 2310 (introduced May 13 by Rep. Smith, R-N.J.) would ensure that goods made using or containing cobalt refined in China do not enter the U.S. market under the presumption that the cobalt is extracted or processed with the use of child and forced labor in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

CBP. By a 14-13 vote, the Senate Finance Committee approved May 13 the nomination of Rodney Scott to be commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
