Background

The Bureau of Industry and Security has issued orders denying for periods of five to ten years the export privileges of nine individuals who have been convicted of the following violations.

- smuggling goods, including motors, pumps, valves, displacement pumps, and other items, by falsely identifying the ultimate consignee of shipments

- smuggling firearms and ammunition without the required license or written approval

- fraudulently and knowingly receiving, concealing, buying, selling, and facilitating the transportation, concealment, and sale of firearms

All of these individuals have also been sentenced to prison terms ranging from 18 months to 78 months.

Under the BIS orders, neither these individuals nor anyone acting on their behalf may directly or indirectly participate in any way in any transaction involving any commodity, software, or technology exported or to be exported from the U.S. that is subject to the Export Administration Regulations.
