Imports of textiles and apparel increased from March to April, according to statistics from the Department of Commerce’s Office of Textiles and Apparel.

Overall imports. Textile and apparel imports totaled 8.32 billion square meter equivalents in March, up 6.7 percent from March but unchanged from a year earlier. Textile imports totaled 6.36 billion SME, up 2.3 percent from a month earlier but down 3.1 percent from the previous year, while apparel imports of 1.97 billion SME were down 2.5 percent for the month but up 11.5 percent from a year before.
For the year to date, total imports were up 9.8 percent from a year earlier to 32.9 billion SME, with textile imports up 9.1 percent to 24.5 million SME and apparel imports up 9.8 percent to 8.4 million SME.
For the year ending in April 2025, total imports were up 15.0 percent compared to a year earlier, to 109.4 billion SME. Textile imports rose 17.2 percent to 82.9 billion SME while apparel imports were up 8.7 percent to 26.6 billion SME.
