Background

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has announced the calendar year 2021 tariff-rate quota quantity for tuna fish in airtight containers. Specifically, CBP has determined that 18,345,004 kilograms of tuna (up from 15,881,292 in 2020) may be entered or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption during the period Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2021, at the six percent duty rate under HTSUS 1604.14.22. Excess amounts will be dutiable at a rate of 12.5 percent under HTSUS 1604.14.30.
