The Drug Enforcement Administration is accepting comments through July 10 on proposed rules that would place the following substances in schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act.
- 3- methoxyphencyclidine (an arylcyclohexylamine hallucinogen) and its salts, isomers, and salts of isomers
- the fentanyl-related substances para-bromofentanyl (N-(4-bromophenyl)-N-(1-phenethylpiperidin-4-yl)propionamide), para-fluoroacetyl fentanyl (N-(4-fluorophenyl)-N-(1-phenethylpiperidin-4-yl)acetamide), and para-methyl acetyl fentanyl (N-(4-methylphenyl)-N-(1-phenethylpiperidin-4-yl)acetamide)
These rules would impose the regulatory controls and administrative, civil, and criminal sanctions applicable to schedule I substances on the importation, exportation, manufacture, distribution, reverse distribution, possession, research, conduct of instructional activities, and chemical analysis of these substances.
