Cheese Exports

The Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service reports that, effective May 22, the Dominican Republic activated the CAFTA-DR agricultural safeguard measures on imports of mozzarella cheese (HTS 0406.10.10) from the U.S. As a result, such imports will be subject to an 11.2 percent tariff rate (up from the usual 2.0 percent) through Dec. 31.

Poultry Imports

Effective June 3, the USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has removed restrictions on imports of poultry, commercial birds, ratites, avian hatching eggs, unprocessed avian products and byproducts, and certain fresh poultry products originating from or transiting Chiba Prefecture in Japan. With this change there are currently no restrictions on imports of such goods from any area in Japan.
