Background

The International Trade Administration has issued a notice announcing that as of July 22 it will increase user fees for a number of export and investment promotion services and events. Covered services include providing lists of foreign agents, distributors, and partners; customized market research; and reports on specific foreign companies. They also include assistance with participating in trade missions, trade shows and events, promotional events, virtual fairs, and similar events.

Among other things this notice will eliminate discounts for small and medium enterprises and impose one fee per service or event for all companies, regardless of size. The revised fees can be as much as six times the amount of the current fee for small companies.

The notice also details new services and programs the ITA will be introducing with respect to export promotion, rural export centers, and trade show organizers.

The ITA is accepting comments on how the higher fees may impact clients and how they expect to adjust, the revised menu of services, and any other germane topics. The ITA notes that such comments will be used to inform any future fee revisions.
