Background

U.S. Customs and Border Protection reports that on Jan. 29 it will implement changes to the electronic process for reviewing entry summaries. While the majority of these changes will only affect CBP users, beginning on that date trade users will no longer be able to submit responses to CBP forms 28, 29, and 4647 (issued by CBP through the ACE Portal) directly through the ACE Portal. Instead, electronic responses will only be available through the Document Imaging System (via EDI or email submission).

CBP states that this limitation will remain in effect until the new ACE forms application is deployed in April (to be accessed via the ACE Portal), at which time trade users will have the option to directly respond to CBP forms 28, 29, and 4647 through the new application.
