Export Privileges Suspended for Unlicensed Shipments
The Bureau of Industry and Security has issued separate orders suspending the export privileges of individuals convicted of the following crimes. BIS has also revoked all licenses in which these individuals had an interest at the time of their convictions.

- ten-year suspension for knowingly and willfully aiding and abetting the export to Mexico of ammunition designated as defense articles on the U.S. Munitions List without the required State Department licenses (individual previously sentenced to 27 months in prison and a $100 assessment and placed on the State Department’s debarred list)
- seven-year suspension for knowingly and willfully exporting to Latvia items designated as defense articles on the USML without the required State Department licenses (individual previously sentenced to 34 months in prison and a $100 assessment)
- ten-year suspension for knowingly and willfully conspiring and agreeing to export space communications technology to Hong Kong without the required Department of Commerce licenses and without filing electronic export information through the Automated Export System (individual previously sentenced to 46 months in prison and a $300 assessment)
Automotive Trade Regulations
The Department of Commerce has issued a final rule removing the regulations implementing the Automotive Products Trade Act of 1965, effective Aug. 6. The DOC explains that U.S.-Canada trade in automotive products has not been governed by this act since NAFTA came into effect in 1994 and that the implementing regulations are therefore obsolete and unnecessary.
