Imports of textiles and apparel grew slightly in June, according to statistics from the Department of Commerce’s Office of Textiles and Apparel.

Textile and apparel imports totaled 8.36 billion square meter equivalents in June, up 0.8 percent from May but down 0.7 percent from a year earlier. Textile imports totaled 6.33 billion SME, unchanged for the month and down 0.5 percent from the previous year, while apparel imports of 2.03 billion SME were up 3.6 percent from May but down 1.2 percent from a year before.

Imports of textiles and apparel were 46.7 billion SME for the year to date in June, up 4.6 percent from the previous year. Textile imports were 35.1 billion SME, up 6.2 percent, while apparel imports totaled 11.7 billion SME, up 0.2 percent.

For the year ending in June 2024, total imports were up 1.4 percent compared to a year earlier, to 94.6 billion SME. Textile imports rose 4.6 percent to 70.3 billion SME while apparel imports fell 6.8 percent to 24.4 billion SME.
