Export controls. H.R. 5209 (introduced Aug. 15 by Rep. Dunn, R-Fla.) would impose export controls and sanctions to address the security threat posed by the genetic mapping efforts of the governments of China and other countries.

Supply chains. H.R. 5239 (introduced Aug. 18 by Rep. Dunn, R-Fla.) would prohibit the Department of Commerce from issuing an interim or final rule that establishes a vessel slowdown zone in the Gulf of Mexico until it completes a study demonstrating that proposed mitigation efforts would have no negative impact on supply chains.

Beef labeling. The Beef Origin Labeling Accountability Act (H.R. 5215, introduced Aug 15 by Rep. Johnson, R-S.D.) would require the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, in consultation with the Department of Agriculture, to determine a means of reinstating mandatory country of origin labeling for beef that is in compliance with all applicable rules of the World Trade Organization.
