U.S.-India trade talks scheduled for August called off, source says

“Earlier this month, U.S. President Donald Trump imposed an additional 25% tariff on Indian goods, citing New Delhi's continued imports of Russian oil in a move that sharply escalated tensions between the two nations. The new import tax, which will come into effect from August 27, will raise duties on some Indian exports to as high as 50% - among the highest levied on any U.S. trading partner.”

India suspends duty on cotton imports in trade thaw with U.S.

“Through a notification issued by the ministry of finance, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) said all imports under heading 5201—covering raw cotton—will be exempt from duties between 19 August and 30 September. The decision is expected to directly benefit American exporters, who have been pressing for easier market access in India after Washington increased tariffs on Indian products earlier this year.”
