Background

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has lifted import restrictions on seafood products made wholly or in part with seafood harvested by Yu Long No. 2, a Taiwan-flagged fishing vessel.

In May 2020 CBP issued a withhold release order against imports of such seafood based on evidence reasonably indicating the presence of several International Labor Organization indicators of forced labor. Since that time, CBP states, the vessel has taken numerous actions to remediate those indicators.

As a result, effective Aug. 14 CBP will allow imports of seafood products harvested by this vessel to enter the U.S. provided they are otherwise in compliance with U.S. laws.
