Tariffs. The Stop Global Tariffs Act (H.R. 8228, introduced April 9 by Reps. Panetta, D-Calif., and Bacon, R-Neb.) would nullify the presidential proclamation that imposed Section 122 tariffs on all imports. A press release from Panetta’s office states that the bill would also require that importers be reimbursed for Section 122 tariffs paid and prohibit “the issuance of successive similar tariffs.”

Export controls. H.R. 8202 (introduced April 6 by Reps. Mackenzie, R-Pa., and Castro, D-Texas) would amend the Export Control Reform Act of 2018 by (1) extending from five years to ten years the statute of limitations for export control violations for both civil enforcement actions and criminal prosecutions and (2) clarifying that a civil case is considered commenced when a charging letter is issued.
