Tariffs. President Trump signed into law Sept. 18 a bill (H.R. 5334; click here for more details) that grants the president additional authority to impose import tariffs.
The End Trump’s Tariff Tax Act (S. 5390, introduced Sept. 14 by Sen. Schumer, D-N.Y.) would terminate and refund certain tariffs imposed by the president.
The Banning Antiquated Duties and Delivering Equitable American Levies Act (S. 5397, introduced Sept. 15 by Sen. Gillibrand, D-N.Y.) would repeal section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930 and refund the tariffs paid under that authority.
The American Tariff Rebate Act (H.R. 10494, introduced Sept. 17 by Rep. Foushee, D-N.C.) would amend the Internal Revenue Code to provide eligible taxpayers with a refundable tax credit to offset the impact of import tariffs.
Trade enforcement. S. 5426 (introduced Sept. 17 by Sen. Moody, R-Fla.) would codify the National Fraud Enforcement Division of the Department of Justice (which the DOJ established in August 2026).
Imports. H.R. 10509 (introduced Sept. 17 by Rep. Vasquez, D-N.M.) would suspend the presidential proclamation relating to expanding foreign beef imports and establish a Beef Import and Domestic Supply Advisory Board to increase the domestic supply of beef and lower costs for consumers over the long term.
