No Federal Energy Conservation Standards for High-Intensity Discharge Lamps

After three years of consideration, the Department of Energy has determined not to issue federal energy conservation standards for high-intensity discharge lamps. This determination is based on DOE’s conclusion that standards for high-pressure sodium lamps are not technologically feasible and that standards for mercury vapor and metal halide lamps are not economically justified.
