Export Committees on Regulations, Emerging Technology to Meet

The Bureau of Industry and Security’s Regulations and Procedures Technical Advisory Committee will hold a partially open meeting Dec. 13 in Washington, D.C. This committee advises BIS on implementation of the Export Administration Regulations and provides for continuing review to update the EAR as needed. The public session of the upcoming meeting will include updates on export enforcement, regulations and the Automated Export System as well as working group reports.

The BIS’ Emerging Technology and Research Advisory Committee will hold a partially open meeting Dec. 15 in Washington, D.C. This committee advises BIS on emerging technology and research activities, including those related to deemed exports. The public session of the upcoming meeting will include an update on export control reform, a review of emerging technologies in the news, and discussion of issues such as electronics and graphene circuits, graphene metamaterials, robotics and big data, optoelectronics and photonics, additive manufacturing, advanced materials, and hypersonic weapons and U.S. national security. In addition, the new Deemed Interactive Tool will be introduced and demonstrated and discussions will be held on the toxicological agents final rule as well as disruptive technologies.

The open session of each meeting will be accessible via teleconference to 25 participants on a first come, first served basis, and requests to participate in this manner must be submitted by Dec. 6 (RPTAC) or Dec. 8 (ETRAC). In addition, a limited number of seats will be available at each public session, but reservations are not accepted.
