The Department of Commerce’s Office of Textiles and Apparel reports that monthly imports of cotton, wool, manmade fiber, silk blend, and non-cotton vegetable fiber textile and apparel products totaled 5.72 billion square meter equivalents in June, down 6.4 percent from May but up 0.5 percent from June 2018. Textile imports totaled 3.44 billion SME, down 10.2 percent for the month and 1.2 percent from the previous year, while apparel imports of 2.28 billion SME were unchanged from May and up 3.2 percent from a year before.

Overall Imports. Total year-to-date imports were 33.5 billion SME, up 5.3 percent from the previous year, as textile imports gained 5.9 percent to 20.1 billion SME and apparel imports rose 4.3 percent to 13.4 billion SME.
For the year ending in June imports were 70.3 billion SME, up 6.4 percent from a year earlier, as textile imports increased 7.7 percent to 41.9 billion SME and apparel imports rose 4.6 percent to 28.4 billion SME.
