The Department of Commerce’s Office of Textiles and Apparel reports that monthly imports of cotton, wool, manmade fiber, silk blend, and non-cotton vegetable fiber textile and apparel products totaled 4.19 billion square meter equivalents in March 2020, down 12.3 percent from February and 12.6 percent from March 2019. Textile imports totaled 2.50 billion SME, down 10.1 percent for the month and 12.5 percent from the previous year, while apparel imports of 1.69 billion SME were down 15.9 percent from February and 12.9 percent from a year before.

Overall Imports. Total year-to-date imports were 14.7 billion SME, down 10.7 percent from the previous year, as textile imports fell 9.9 percent to 8.65 billion SME and apparel imports fell 11.8 percent to 6.01 billion SME
For the year ending in March, imports were 68.0 billion SME, down 1.9 percent from a year earlier, as textile imports fell 0.3 percent to 41.1 billion SME and apparel imports fell 4.2 percent to 26.9 billion SME.
