The State Department is extending the effective period of its temporary amendment to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations to waive for an additional year (through Sept. 30, 2022) the policy of denial on the export, reexport, retransfer, and temporary import of non-lethal defense articles and defense services destined for or originating in the Republic of Cyprus.
This waiver allows for commercial purchases of non-lethal defense articles and defense services described on the U.S. Munitions List, although potential exports to Cyprus will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis for compliance with U.S. law and policy. The U.S. will continue to deny licenses for lethal defense articles and defense services destined for or originating in Cyprus.
