Background

The Department of Energy has received an application from Corpus Christi Liquefaction Stage III LLC requesting long-term, multi-contract authorization to export domestically produced liquefied natural gas in a volume equivalent to 582.14 billion cubic feet per year for 20 years. This LNG would be exported from the company’s proposed natural gas liquefaction and export facilities in San Patricio and Nueces Counties, Texas, to any country with which the U.S. has not entered into a free trade agreement requiring national treatment for trade in natural gas and with which trade is not prohibited by U.S. law or policy. Protests, motions to intervene, notices of intervention, and written comments are due by Oct. 15.
