LARRY JAMES brings 45 years’ experience working in Canada’s customs and trade industry to his role as Independent Consultant for Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A. Based in Ottawa, Canada, he assists in the development of NAFTA / USMCA certification procedures, assists client undergoing verification reviews by the Canada Border Services Agency and provides advice on trade issues such as duty savings strategies, classification, valuation, import/export restrictions, and customs seizures and penalties.
During a 20-year career with Revenue Canada-Customs and Excise (now Canada Border Services Agency) Mr. James served in a number of capacities, including being a member of Canada’s Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System project and implementation teams, and manager of the government’s efforts on machinery and special automotive incentives programs. After leaving the Canadian government he served as a senior manager for a Big 4 accounting firm, where he assisted clients in developing compliant trade strategies to optimize indirect tax benefits.
Mr. James studied at the Woburn Collegiate Institute in Ontario, Canada.
