LOUIS S. SHOICHET, Esq., is Of Counsel to Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A., resident in the New York office.
Mr. Shoichet has been engaged in the practice of customs and international trade law for 40 years and served as a staff attorney at U.S. Customs headquarters before entering private practice. He has extensive experience in the management of customs audits and focused assessments, guiding multinational firms in the appraisement, classification and North American distribution issues affecting merchandise of all kinds, including apparel, fashion accessories, watches, luggage, handbags, footwear, and automotive and industrial products. He has represented clients in customs civil and criminal investigations and intellectual property rights infringement proceedings. His work has also included lecturing on Food and Drug Administration regulations arising from the Bioterrorism Act of 2002, assisting importers with FDA registrations for overseas facilities, and participating in Fish and Wildlife Service licensure hearings.
Mr. Shoichet holds a law degree from Hofstra University and is admitted to practice before the Court of International Trade and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He is a member of the New York County Lawyers Association, for which he co-developed a seminar program on cross-border compliance in international trade; the New York State Bar Association; and the Customs and International Trade Bar Association, where he served as a member of the Continuing Legal Education and Professional Responsibility Committee.
