The Federal Maritime Commission is updating its current user fees, as set forth below. These changes will be effective June 5 unless significant adverse comments are filed prior to April 20, in which case the FMC will withdraw this rule no later than May 5.
- $1,304 fee for applications for new ocean transportation intermediary licenses
- $943 fee for applications for changes to OTI licenses or license transfers
- $394 filing fee for carrier automated tariff applications
- $3,980 fee for new ocean common carrier and marine terminal operator agreements
- $4,637 fee for agreement modifications requiring FMC review and action
- $1,174 fee for agreements processed under delegated authority
- $343 fee for carrier exempt agreements
- $96 fee for terminal exempt agreements
- $450 fee for petitions for relief from (1) conditions unfavorable to shipping in the foreign trade, (2) adverse conditions affecting U.S.-flag carriers that do not exist for foreign carriers in the U.S., and (3) conditions unduly impairing access of U.S.-flag vessels to ocean trade between foreign ports
- $387 filing fee for private party complaints for formal adjudication
- $450 filing fee for petitions for declaratory orders and general petitions
- $187 filing fee for special docket applications for permission to refund or waive freight charges
- $41/hour fee for searches performed by clerical or administrative personnel and $82/hour for searches performed by professional or executive personnel
- $109/hour for review of records to determine whether they are exempt from disclosure
- $93 for each certification and validation of documents filed with or issued by the FMC
- $195 fee for applications for admission to practice before the FMC for persons who are not attorneys at law
