Background

According to a recent message from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, additional HTSUS codes are being added to the list of those flagged for permit and reporting requirements under one or more of the following trade monitoring programs: the Antarctic Marine Living Resources Program, the Seafood Import Monitoring Program, and the Tuna Tracking and Verification Program.

CBP said it will begin flagging the new or revised HTSUS codes on July 1. Entries using one of these codes will be subject to all permitting, reporting, and recordkeeping requirements associated with the trade monitoring program(s) for which it is listed.
