Import Restrictions Eased on Meat from France

APHIS has announced its preliminary concurrence with the World Organization for Animal Health’s recognition of France as being of negligible risk for bovine spongiform encephalopathy. If finalized, this action would ease associated restrictions on meat imports from this country. Comments are due no later than Aug. 14.

Import Restrictions on Poultry Updated

Effective June 14, USDA has removed restrictions on imports of poultry, commercial birds, ratites, avian hatching eggs, unprocessed avian products and byproducts, and certain fresh poultry products from zones PCZ-106 in Alberta, PCZ-181 in Ontario, and PCZ-187 in Quebec after the highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreaks in these areas were completely resolved.
