Imports of textiles and apparel fell 8.6 percent from November to December after a 6.6 percent drop the previous month, according to statistics from the Department of Commerce’s Office of Textiles and Apparel.

Overall imports. Textile and apparel imports totaled 9.13 billion square meter equivalents in December, down 8.6 percent from November but up 32.3 percent from a year earlier. Textile imports totaled 7.08 billion SME, down 12.2 percent from a month earlier but up 38.6 percent from the previous year, while apparel imports of 2.05 billion SME were up 6.2 percent for the month and 14.0 percent from a year before.
Imports of textiles and apparel were 106.6 billion SME for all of 2024, up 15.2 percent from 2023. Textile imports were 80.9 billion SME, up 18.5 percent, while apparel imports totaled 25.8 billion SME, up 6.0 percent.
