Background

According to the Fish and Wildlife Service, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora Secretariat recently announced the following amendments to the CITES Appendix III species listings.

- Papilio phorbanta (small Réunion swallowtail) has been included in Appendix III by the European Union; as a result, these specimens imported into, or exported from, the U.S. on or after May 21 will require CITES documentation

- Daboia palaestinae (Palestine viper) has been included in Appendix III by Israel; as a result, these specimens imported into, or exported from, the U.S. on or after May 4 will require CITES documentation
