ROBERT GRASING is a Member of Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A., and focuses his practice on customs and import trade law. Mr. Grasing has extensive experience with statutory and regulatory compliance, including internal audits, corporate manuals, training, focused assessments, prior disclosures, penalty mitigation, and protests. He assists clients with import classifications, trade remedy reviews, Section 301 tariff mitigation, free trade agreements and trade preference programs as well as compliance issues related to other regulatory agencies, including the CPSC, FCC, FDA, FTC, and USDA. On several occasions he has assisted employees of various clients in obtaining their customs broker’s license by successfully appealing examination questions.  

Prior to joining ST&R Mr. Grasing practiced international trade and customs law for more than 10 years with Cerny Associates, P.C., a firm specializing in customs compliance for numerous Fortune 500 clients. Before beginning his legal career he worked for nearly a decade as a licensed customs broker for a globally-recognized freight forwarder located at JFK Airport in New York City. In this role he specialized in issues relating to the transportation and customs clearance of various items, including cosmetics, apparel, textiles, accessories, travel goods, and firearms. 

Mr. Grasing holds a B.A. from Columbia University and a J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law. He is admitted to the New York state bar and is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the New York City Bar Association, and the Coalition of New England Companies for Trade.
