MARISSA JOHNSON is Of Counsel for Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A. She focuses on helping businesses lower duty liability through use of the First Sale Rule.

Prior to joining ST&R Ms. Johnson ran her own law firm while also working as a customs and trade attorney, where she assisted clients on issues such as prior disclosures, protests, classification, and qualification for preferential treatment under free trade agreements. Earlier in her career she was a customs and trade specialist for several years, where her work included duty avoidance, focused assessments, transfer pricing, foreign-trade zones, AD/CVD duties, and the Importer Self-Assessment program. She also innovated processes to lower operational costs and help clients realize significant duty savings while at Sandler & Travis Trade Advisory Services.  

Ms. Johnson holds a J.D. from Western Michigan University’s Cooley Law School and a B.S. in finance from Oakland University
