President Trump has announced his intent to nominate Ronald D. Vitiello to serve as the director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. According to a press release by the Department of Homeland Security, since assuming the role of deputy director in late June Vitiello has made clear his commitment to support the men and women of ICE and ensure they are well-positioned to meet the demand of their challenging jobs. Vitiello has more than 30 years of experience in law enforcement, which according to DHS “makes him especially qualified to hold this important position.”
