The Department of Agriculture is seeking input on regulations, guidance documents, or other policy documents that can be modified, streamlined, expanded, or repealed to reduce burdens. USDA will review comments in four batches over a one-year period; the cut-off dates for comments to be reviewed in each batch are Sept. 15, Nov. 1, Feb. 12, and July 17, respectively.
This request for comments is being issued in furtherance of two executive orders issued by President Trump earlier this year directing agencies to eliminate two regulations for each new regulation issued and to convene a regulatory reform task force to assist in the removal of unnecessary regulations. Toward this end USDA is specifically requesting information on regulations that should be repealed, replaced, or modified because they eliminate jobs or inhibit job creation; are outdated, unnecessary, or ineffective; impose costs that exceed benefits; create a serious inconsistency or otherwise interfere with regulatory reform initiatives and policies; are inconsistent with the requirement to maximize the quality, objectivity, and integrity of the information USDA disseminates; or derive from or implement executive orders or other presidential directives that have been subsequently rescinded or substantially modified.
