Background

The Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has announced that as of Sept. 11 it will add the Republic of Malta to the lists of regions considered to be free of swine vesicular disease, African swine fever, foot-and-mouth disease, and rinderpest and to the list of regions considered low-risk for classical swine fever. These changes will lift related restrictions on the importation of live ruminants and swine, and meat and meat products thereof, from Malta.
