The Foreign-Trade Zones Board is accepting through Dec. 14 comments on a request to establish under the alternative site framework an FTZ with a service area of the City of Hitchcock, Texas, within and adjacent to the Houston U.S. Customs and Border Protection port of entry. The application states that there is a need for zone services in the Hitchcock area and that several firms have indicated an interest in using zone procedures, although specific production approvals are not being sought at this time. The proposed zone would be the sixth for the Houston CBP port of entry, following FTZs 36 in Galveston, 84 in Houston, 171 in Liberty County, 199 in Texas City, and 265 in Conroe.
