The Bureau of Industry and Security is accepting comments through April 23 on requests for investigation under section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act. Upon request, BIS will initiate such investigations to determine the effects of imports of specific commodities on national security. BIS must report its findings and recommendations for action or inaction to the president within 270 days. The president then has 90 days to concur or not concur and determine whether to take remedial action, which may include tariffs, quotas, or other measures. Within 30 days of a decision it must be published in the Federal Register and reported to Congress.
