U.S. Customs and Border Protection has launched a new electronic Vehicle Validation Export Process Program for all ocean carriers exporting vehicles from Port Everglades, Fla. According to a press release from the Broward County (Fla.) County Commission, this program is the first of its kind in the U.S. and will allow shippers to submit original vehicle export documentation electronically in lieu of delivering physical copies to their local CBP trade office, thus ensuring faster document processing and reducing shipping times by about a day. In addition, the press release states, exporters are no longer required to make multiple copies of documentation per vehicle being shipped since the files can be provided electronically.
