Background

The value of monthly freight flows between the U.S. and its NAFTA partners totaled $107.3 billion in May, up 4.4 percent from April and 9.2 percent from a year earlier, according to Department of Transportation statistics.

The value of total U.S. trade with Canada rose 5.6 percent from April to $55.1 billion and was up 7.7 percent from a year earlier. U.S. trade with Mexico was valued at $52.1 billion in May, up 3.2 percent from April and 10.8 percent from May 2017.
