The International Trade Administration has reopened through Jan. 22 the deadline for applications for appointment to the U.S. section of the U.S.-Brazil CEO Forum. After that date, applications will continue to be accepted through Feb. 24 to fill any new vacancies that may arise. The members of this forum provide recommendations on ways to enhance commercial ties and expand trade between the two countries.
Up to 12 individuals will be appointed for a three-year term that starts Feb. 25, 2019 (rather than the previously announced Dec. 1, 2018). Each candidate must be the chief executive officer or president (or have a comparable level of responsibility) of a U.S.-owned or -controlled company that is incorporated or otherwise organized in and has its main headquarters in the U.S. and that is currently doing business in both Brazil and the U.S. Each candidate also must be a U.S. citizen or otherwise legally authorized to work in the U.S. and able to travel to Brazil and locations in the U.S. to attend meetings. Candidates may not be registered foreign agents.
Applicants will be evaluated based on (a) a demonstrated commitment to the Brazilian market by their companies, through either exports or investment; (b) a demonstrated strong interest in Brazil and its economic development; (c) the ability to offer a broad perspective and business experience to the discussions; (d) the ability to address cross-cutting issues that affect the entire business community; and (e) the ability to initiate and be responsible for activities in which the forum will be active.
