Background

A U.S. company has agreed to pay a $55,000 penalty to settle charges that it committed ten violations of the Export Administration Regulations.

According to the Bureau of Industry and Security, the company caused, aided, or abetted the unlicensed export of rifle scopes to Russia and Ukraine. BIS notes that the company was aware of export licensing requirements for these items, having been notified on a number of occasions by U.S. Customs and Border Protection that shipments of such items were detained for not having the required license.
