Background

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has announced that the next semi-annual examination for individual customs broker licenses will be held April 27. Registration to participate will open Feb. 8 and close March 28.

The broker license exam consists of 80 multiple-choice questions and a score of 75 percent is required to pass. Exam topics typically include entry, classification, trade agreements, valuation, broker compliance, power of attorney, marking, drawback, bonds, foreign-trade zones, warehouse entries, intellectual property rights, fines, penalties, and forfeitures, and other subjects pertinent to a broker’s duties.

Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg’s Virtual Customs Broker Exam Prep Course is designed to prepare attendees to take and pass the customs broker examination, but its extensive overview of the customs brokerage/import process also makes it a great option for those looking for training in this field. ST&R attorney Paula M. Connelly has been teaching this broker prep course for the past 13 years.
