Background

Two-Way Radios. The International Trade Commission has terminated patent infringement investigation 337-TA-1053 of two-way radio equipment and systems, related software, and components thereof with respect to several patent claims asserted by Motorola Solutions Inc.

Magnetic Tape Cartridges. The ITC has terminated patent infringement investigation 337-TA-1036 of magnetic tape cartridges and components thereof with respect to all asserted claims of one patent asserted by complainants Sony Corporation, Sony Storage Media and Devices Corporation, Sony DADC US Inc., and Sony Latin America Inc.

Mobile Electronic Devices. The ITC has instituted investigation 337-TA-1093 to determine whether imports of mobile electronic devices and radio frequency and processing components thereof are violating Section 337 of the 1930 Tariff Act by reason of patent infringement. The products at issue are primarily certain smartphone models that incorporate technologies to enhance carrier aggregation functionality, power-efficient radio frequency signal reception, power-efficient processor and memory architectures, and image processing.

Complainant Qualcomm Incorporated requests that after this investigation the ITC issue a limited exclusion order, which would direct U.S. Customs and Border Protection to prohibit the entry of infringing products into the U.S., and cease and desist orders, which would require the named respondent to cease actions that violate Section 337, including selling infringing imported articles out of U.S. inventory. The respondent in this investigation is located in the U.S.

Self-Anchoring Beverage Containers. The ITC has instituted investigation 337-TA-1092 to determine whether imports of self-anchoring beverage containers are violating Section 337 of the 1930 Tariff Act by reason of patent infringement. The products at issue attach themselves to surfaces on which they are put (e.g., desks or tables), making it difficult to knock them over while still allowing users to pick them up.

Complainants Alfay Designs Inc., Mighty Mug Inc., and Harry Zimmerman request that after this investigation the ITC issue a general exclusion order, which would direct CBP to prohibit the entry of infringing products into the U.S., and cease and desist orders, which would require the named respondents to cease actions that violate Section 337, including selling infringing imported articles out of U.S. inventory. The respondents in this investigation are located in China, Ukraine, Lithuania, Taiwan, and the U.S.
