Digital Cable Products. The International Trade Commission has terminated patent infringement investigation 337-TA-1049 of digital cable and satellite products, set-top boxes, gateways, and components thereof with respect to one patent at the request of complainants Sony Corporation and Sony Electronics Inc.
Semiconductor Devices. In investigation 337-TA-1010, the ITC’s presiding administrative law judge has found in part a violation of section 337 of the 1930 Tariff Act in the importation of semiconductor devices, semiconductor device packages, and products containing same. The ITC is now requesting additional information from the parties to this proceeding on a number of specific issues.
In addition, the ITC is accepting comments from the public through Oct. 13 on the effects of an exclusion order and/or cease and desist orders on the public health and welfare, competitive conditions in the U.S. economy, U.S. production of articles that are like or directly competitive with those that are subject to this investigation, and U.S. consumers. The ITC is particularly interested in comments on which specific products most directly implicate these public interest factors and how any public interest concerns could be accommodated by tailoring any remedial orders, including delaying implementation as to specific products for a specific period of time.
